Connecting a domain you already own

Point a web address you already own at your SiteDrop site so visitors see your own domain.

What this guide covers

If you already own a web address (like yourbusiness.com), you can point it at your SiteDrop site so visitors see your own domain instead of a sitedrop.live link.

Before you startYou'll need the login for wherever you bought your domain (your domain provider), because you'll make a small settings change there.

The steps

  1. Open Sites in your dashboard and click the site you want the domain to point at.
  2. Go to its Domain tab.
  3. Choose Connect one I own and enter your domain.
  4. SiteDrop shows you the exact DNS settings to add. Log in to your domain provider and add them.
  5. Save, and come back — SiteDrop verifies the connection.

NoteCustom domains are available on a paid plan. On the free plan your site uses a sitedrop.live address. See Plans and what's included.

If it's slow to connect

DNS changes can take a little while to take effect (sometimes a few hours). If your domain doesn't work straight away, that's normal — see domains and DNS explained, and if it's still not loading after a day, this troubleshooting guide.

Don't have a domain yet? You can buy one through SiteDrop instead.
